Pioneering

Recently Venutres and Scouts had an amazing pioneering project headed by our lovely VSL Raymond sir

the project was intended to run for approx 12 hours, it started off with all scouts and ventures arriving in Manjusri Secondary School at 8 am on 17th March '07 with a few exceptionally late ventures..

we started off under the hot and unforgiving sun which burnt our skin, however we did manage to complete approx 60-75% of the structure by the end of the day.

all of us headed home exhausted and scarred with sun-burns on our pale, soft, unprotected skin...

it was really tiring for us watery-eyed, pale skinned, 50% computer geeks who had lost contact with our wilder side.....

our work resumed on 19th March '07, with frequent rain over the Sunday weekend the structure needs alot of reinforcing and lots of new ropes were needed....

as we worked lots of Manjusrians gaze in wonder as to what on Earth are we doing and wondered if we were crazy to do such an enormous feat...

in the end we proved them wrong that we Manjusri Red Fox Scouts is truly capable of accomplishing a Feat i believed never tried before, by 5pm on 19th the structure was up with a Manjusri Red Fox Scouts Flag flying high at the mast atop of the tower....

21st March '07 was the dreaded and much awaited VIP visit..

again we ventures arrived early to do a few last minute reinforcement to the structure which had withstood yet another storm....

the VIP visit went smoothly and i think they were impressed by the tower that we had managed to build......

the entire VIP fiesta ended at approx 5pm and our VSL Raymond Sir gave us a dinner treat....

the structure was left to stand for another 2 days where it weathered its last few rain storms....

on 23rd March '07 we were ordered to bring it down....

we all did it with heavy hearts, all wishing to be able to let it stand for eternity....

we knew we were writing history....Manjusri Red Fox Scouts history that is....

somewhere in our heart keep telling us that never again will we able to achieve such a magnificent feat again.....some part of us is still not willing to let the tower go....

however all things good or bad must come to an end.... with a pang of regret within our hearts we started to pick apart the tower.......every creak the ropes made was as if the tower was screaming in protest... screaming not to be taken apart......

at end of the day all that remains for the tower was pioneering poles, ropes and photos of it....

the memory of the tower will remain forever within each of us who participated in its birth and its ultimate destruction.....like our scouting light it will be forever with us till the day we snuff it....

For Red Fox we give everything, but we only take back Memories.....

cheers,
Eddie
